Acne is a common skin condition caused by bacteria. Acne affects a large number of people of all ages, the figure stands at about 60 million in the US alone. . There are over 50 different types of acne with the most common one being acne vulgaris. Although Acne cannot be cured, it should not be ignored because it can be treated and managed. Acne is prevalent in adolescents because it is at the start of puberty that the hormone androgen is produced. This hormone causes acne flare up that are common during pregnancy and menstruation.

Stress doesn’t not necessarily cause acne but it can aggravate it. Stress causes hormonal imbalance which in turn can trigger new acne lesions because the oil gland in the skin expand and secrete more oil, causing pimple, white heads and black heads.

Care should also be taken in the application of make up some cosmetics that are have a lot of oil cause the clogging of pores. Cosmetic creams that contain petrolatum, oleic acid, vegetable oils and lanolin should be avoided. Other greasy cosmetics increase acne because they modify follicle cells causing them to stick together and making them plug.

Diet is also a big factor in the increase of acne with some foods triggering an acne outbreak, with carbohydrates and sugars being one of the main cause of acne worsening in some people. Although Vitamins are good for the body , excessive intake of vitamins B1, B6 and B12 can cause acne blow ups.

In women, taking or stopping the intake of birth control pills can cause acne other causative factors include humidity and pollution that can affect the skin by making it swell. In very rear cases acne is hereditary in the case of cystic acne. In this particular case, you can only treat it and manage it.

It is important to keep to a daily regimen of treatment. There are natural and medical treatments available for the management of the acne condition.
