How To Properly Pop A Pimple
How to Pop a Pimple
So you have acne and you have a big huge whitehead in the most visible part of your face! You’re first reaction is to pop it, I know. It’s really embarrassing and you feel disgusting if anyone were to see you. If you do pop you pimples, not only could it lead to scarring, but it could also spread any infection you may have.
The first thing you should do is wash you face with warm, not hot, water. You want to use cleansers that are specifically for acne. If you have access to a steamer, which most of us don’t, but even so, it is great for your face to steam it for about 15 minutes. Steaming your face opens up your pores. The easiest way to do this is to boil some water and place your head over a bowl, with a towel draped across your head to keep the steam in. Your face should be about 10 inches away from the water. Gently massage your skin with some type of scrub, one for acne to remove any dirt or dead skin cells.
Now you are ready to get rid of that whitehead. If you don’t have a pimple extractor, you should go out and buy one. They cost about $13 and can be purchased online or at most cosmetic stores. A pimple extractor is a metal tool that is long and thin and has a small ring at one end and a needle at the other. For blackheads, press the ring against your skin and glide it to extract any bacteria. If you have a whitehead, you can pierce it with the needle.
When you are done with the extractor, you need to sanitize it thoroughly as you don’t want to leave any bacteria or infection on there. The best way to do this is to place it over fire, or in alcohol or other sanitizer. Salons will use new extractors for every client. They usually come in packages.
When you use the needles to pop your whitehead, and it really needs to be ripe for popping, pop it on the side rather than from the front center. When you squeeze the puss out, make sure your hands are clean and sterilized to prevent infection. Squeeze the puss until it is bloody to ensure you have all of it out. The appearance of blood means the puss is out.
Apply some type of antiseptic to the popped pimple; you may need to ask your dermatologist, although he/she will probably just tell you not to be popping your zits. You can also just do some internet research to find antiseptics or ask a salesperson at your cosmetic store.
Next, use a kaolin or mud mask over your entire face. A kaolin mask is used for oily skin and consists of 3 tsp. of kaolin, ½ tsp. of rose-water, glycerin and tincture of benzoin. You can make it yourself or buy it at a store. Mud masks generally consist of natural minerals. You can also purchase these at various stores. Leave the mask on for about 30 minutes then rinse with warm water and pat dry.
Finally, apply an antiseptic pimple treatment.
